Jobline: Communications Coordinator, Nova Scotia College of Nursing

As the largest regulatory body in Atlantic Canada, the Nova Scotia College of Nursing protects the public by regulating 15,000 licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners in Nova Scotia. Our job is to maintain the public's trust and confidence in the nursing profession, by ensuring nurses deliver safe, quality nursing services.

As an innovative and modern organization, we are looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our team and bring new, fresh ideas to the table. The Coordinator will work closely with the Communications leadership team and as part of the Strategy and Operations Department to help the organization achieve its goals.

As the Communications Coordinator, you will help to provide communications support on variety of provincial and national campaigns as well as lead the organization's day-to-day digital presence online. This includes:

  • Supporting internal and external strategic communications plans, initiatives and campaigns

  • Leading the day-to-day digital communications design and content for our multi-channel platforms, including: best in-class website content, online advertisements, social media posts and video content.

  • Supporting the organization's media strategy

  • Leading the design and content development of our digital newsletter shared with over 15,000 readers (and growing).

  • Using analytics, stakeholder analysis and feedback, new trends and best practice to inform future work

  • Finding new and innovative ways to engage with stakeholders and helping to ensure the reputation and new brand of the organization is maintained

The Communications Coordinator role is for you if you:

Additionally, the Communications Coordinator must have:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of communications or public relations experience

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations or digital design or a college diploma in public relations with additional relevant experience.

  • Knowledge and practical experience in:

  • Managing digital communications platforms, such as: open source websites, email marketing platforms, social media management platforms and social media sites).

  • Using design software to produce print and digital collateral, with support from our User Experience Designer

  • Writing for various audiences and platforms, using communications best practice and brand standards.

  • Developing and managing communications activities and tactics that correspond with the appropriate communications plans, strategies and/or campaigns.
