Roles and responsibilities on our chapter’s board:

Each position on the board is responsible for their own portfolio of goals set at the beginning of every year.

If you are interested, please review the proposed 2019-20 Maritime Chapter Board Positions and Portfolios (below) and send your expression of interest (a completed nomination form and your resume) by June 10, 2019, by e-mailing president@iabcmaritime.com & executive@iabcmaritime.com.

 

Please note that all positions are expected to:

  • cooperate across portfolios to achieve the goals of the chapter’s board’s goals. For further clarity, it is every chapter board member’s duty to contribute to membership recruitment, retention and engagement; professional development opportunities; effective Board communications – and also the marketing of IABC Maritime Canada

  • research best practices in other Chapters

  • actively recruit a successor and provide a smooth transition by filing transition reports at the end of their board term

  • perform other duties necessary to the office or as prescribed by the President or the chapter board

  • President, Past President, Executive VP and Vice Presidents are expected to attend chapter board meetings as often as possible and report on their portfolios

  • portfolio directors will, on occasion, be requested to attend chapter board meetings and provide reports, and are welcome to attend all chapter board meetings. They may engage in chapter board discussions but are not eligible to vote and do not constitute part of quorum – unless serving as proxy for a chapter board member.
